Pat's Kountry Kitchen
About This Spot
Stepping into Pat’s Kountry Kitchen in the heart of McCaysville feels like being welcomed into a beloved family home. The moment you walk through the door, there’s an inviting warmth—not just from the rustic decor and soft, fall-inspired touches around the entrance, but from the friendly faces ready to guide you through a menu rooted in cherished, familiar flavors. Here, the pace eases into the rhythm of good conversation and comfort food lovingly prepared, where every visit has a touch of nostalgia without feeling stuck in the past.
This is a casual local eatery where southern hospitality truly shows in the way the staff remembers your name, your favorite meal, or offers a heartfelt recommendation. The mood is laid-back and genuine, with a sense of place that celebrates the traditions of home-style cooking. The aroma of slow-cooked green beans, rich mashed potatoes draped in gravy, and lightly fried green tomatoes invites you to relax, linger, and savor the moment.
Dining here feels much like a Sunday afternoon at grandma’s table—only with a few surprises that add sparkle to the familiar. Whether it’s the flaky broiled trout, golden fried catfish, or a towering slice of meatloaf, the dishes have a way of reminding you why simple, well-made food can touch the heart. And it’s often the thoughtful sides and homemade pickles—bright, tangy, just-right—that bring a deeper layer to every bite.
Beyond the plate, there’s a steady undercurrent of kindness in the room, matched by the sweet tea that arrives before your main course and the warm recipes passed down through time. The desserts here—like a dense pumpkin pie or a silky key lime—offer a perfect, quiet punctuation to the meal. It’s not just a stop for hunger but a place to reconnect with the comfortable, grounding act of sharing a meal in good company.
For travelers and locals alike, Pat’s Kountry Kitchen offers a dining experience that’s measured in moments—friendly hellos, knowing smiles, and food that tastes like a story told slowly and lovingly, generation to generation.

Our first time discovering this wonderful down-home restaurant was a pure delight! The awesome "Tonya" was so friendly and helpful in what all we decided to order. Everything reminded us of Sunday dinner at Grandma's. Huge pieces of delicious meatloaf, creamed corn, candied yams, fried okra, collard greens, REAL mashed potatoes with gravy, hot rolls, and warm apple cobbler for dessert. Such a charming place! Can't wait to return soon and try some different menu items!

Recommended by a local. Did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and local. My husband asks those kinds of questions. I got the grilled trout, turnips, sweet potato and lemon meringue pie. Wow! Bought some chow chow on the way out. Tonya was amazing.

The outdoor fall decor was really nice, as was the entrance. We felt rushed by our server from the time that we entered (first customers of the day) until we left. Most of the food we ordered was mediocre, but the black eyed peas, sweet potato casserole, and greens were very good.

Got a nice fried fish sandwich with 2 sides for about $12 for lunch. Catfish, candied yams & cheddar jalapeños were great. Sweet tea was good southern tea. Waitress was fantastic, ask for Tonya.

Excellent food, Exceptional service, If you like Old-fashioned down home, home style cooking This is absolutely the place for you. Best country fried steak on the planet. I stop in on occasion and buy a fresh jar of canned vegetable soup and applesauce.

These folks know how to do great home cooking. Beautiful place. All the waitresses were working together to serve everyone. We had to wait a little while for our food but it was worth the wait. Looking forward to stoping here on our next trip through.
